Our Daily Bread
Mix salt,
molasses, egg, 2¼ cups water, brown sugar and oil together in large
bowl. In a small bowl mix together yeast, ¾ cup water and white sugar.
Let rise. Add 3/4 cup whole wheat flour and 1 cup white bread
flour to large bowl ingredients. When yeast mixture has risen, add it to
large bowl. Add more white bread flour to dough until right consistency,
fairly stiff. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes and punch down. Cover
and let rise for 30o minutes; punch down. Cover again and let rise for 1
hour. Form into 4 loaves, approximately 1¼ lbs. each. Let rise. Bake at
375° F. for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and butter tops.
