Recipe Devil's Food Cake Amish Cooking Baking Recipes

Cream the sugars, salt, eggs, cocoa and shortening in mixing bowl until fluffy. Gradually add the sour cream, flour and vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water or coffee and add to the above mixture, mixing until blended. Pour into greased 9" x 13" cake pan and bake in a preheated 300° F. oven for 60 minutes. Top with your favorite icing or sprinkle with powdered sugar.

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
pinch of salt
2 eggs
1/3 c. cocoa
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. sour cream
1 t. vanilla
2 c. cake flour
1 c. hot water or coffee
1 t. baking soda
