Large Chocolate Cake

  Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs and mix well. To this mixture add alternately the flour which has been sifted once with the cocoa and the sour milk. Mix carefully. Add salt and vanilla. Lastly, stir in boiling water in which you have dissolved the soda. Bake in 2- 9" pans at 325° F. for at least 30 minutes. 2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2 eggs, beaten
2½ cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup boiling water
