Love Light Maple Nut Cake

  Preheat oven to 350° F. Beat egg whites until fluffy. Gradually beat in white sugar. Continue beating until very stiff and flossy. Sift flour, baking powder and salt in another bowl. Add brown sugar, oil and half of milk. Beat 1 minute or 150 vigorous strokes by hand. Scrape sides of bowl often. Add remaining milk, egg yolks and flavoring. Beat 1 more minute. Fold in meringue and bake 30 to 35 minutes. 2 eggs (separated)
1/2 c. sugar
2½ c. cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/3 c Wesson oil
1 c. milk
1 tsp. maple flavoring
1/2 c. chopped nuts
