Amish Recipes Richmond's Chocolate Frosting

Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add cocoa and salt, then water. Boil and stir until thickened. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Spread on cake while hot for a glossy frosting. This frosting can also be used as an ice cream topping.

1½ cups sugar
4½ tablespoons cornstarch
7 tablespoons cocoa
pinch of salt
1½ cups boiling water
3 tablespoons butter
1½ teaspoons vanilla
