Angel Cookies

Cream shortenings and sugars. Add other ingredients in order given. Roll into balls the size of walnuts and dip top half in cold water then into sugar. Bake at 350° F. on a greased cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes.

Yield: 3 dozen

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2½ cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup nuts or chocolate chips
