Mammy's Molasses Cookies

oven to 350° F. Mix together the shortening, sugar,
molasses and milk. Place all remaining dry ingredients in a separate bowl
and blend them together: the soda, ginger, cinnamon, salt, cloves, nutmeg
and flour. Add the dry ingredients to the liquid mixture. It should make a
stiff, moist batter. If it is too moist, add a very small amount of flour.
When thoroughly blended, roll out and cut with a cup or a cookie cutter.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 2 dozen cookies. |
