Nut Cookies
In a bowl
combine the sugar, shortening mixture and eggs and blend thoroughly. Sift
the flour and soda together and add them to the mixture a little at a time
until well blended. Stir in the vanilla and form the dough into a roll.
Place the dough on plastic wrap and roll up tightly. Put in the freezer
for a couple of hours. Unwrap, slice thin, and bake in a 350° F. oven for
8 to 10 minutes. The cookies will be light in color but will crisp as they
cool.

3/4 cup butter and shortening
2 eggs
3 to 3½ cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup nut meats, chopped |
