Peach Dumplings with Chocolate Surprise
Roll out
pastry about 1/8" thick, and cut in 6"-8" squares. peel
the peaches and cut a hole in top. Pit each peach carefully and replace
the pit with a chocolate kiss and 1/2 teaspoon butter. Put the cut-off
section back on top of the peach and place on a pastry square. Bring
opposite corners of pastry up over the peach, moistening each corner.
Seal and secure when all 4 corners are folded up.
Syrup:
Make the syrup by combining all the ingredients in a heavy
saucepan and boiling for 3 minutes. Place the peaches in a greased
9" x 13" baking dish and pour the hot syrup around the
dumplings. bake in a preheated 425° F. oven for 10 minutes, then reduce
the heat to 350° and bake 45 minutes longer. Serve warm with pouring
cream, whipped cream, or ice cream, if desired.

6 large peaches
6 chocolate kisses
3 t. butterSyrup:
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 c. water
1 T. butter
1/4 t. ground cinnamon
1/4 t. salt
whipped cream, pouring cream, or ice cream (optional)
