Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream

Heat half of milk. Pour some over sugar. Mix cornstarch with milk and stir in remaining warm milk. Bring to a boil. Soak gelatin in 1/2 cup cold water. Add to warm mixture. Beat eggs with a little milk and add to sugar. Put all together. Add 1 jar maraschino cherries.

Yields 2 gal.

1 gallon milk
3 packages gelatin
4 tablespoons cornstarch (rounded)
5 cups sugar
1 can evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 egg yolks
3 egg whites
1 tablespoon vanilla
1½ cups whipped topping
