Homemade Ice Cream Dessert Amish Recipes

Scald milk and add sugar, clear jel and salt which has been blended in 1 cup cold milk. Cook until thickened. Then add egg yolks which have been mixed with 1/2 cup cooked custard. Dissolve gelatin and add. Cool then add cream and beaten egg whites. Makes 1 gallon of ice cream.

1 quart milk
2 cups sugar, part brown can be used
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup clear jel
1 package Knox gelatin
4 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 quart cream of half and half
4 egg whites
