Ice Cream Sandwiches Dessert Amish Recipes

Scald milk. Add sugar and salt till dissolved. soak gelatine in cold water. Add gelatine to milk. Mix. Cool and add vanilla. Pour in freezing tray. Freeze till firm throughout. remove from tray. Put in a bowl and break into small pieces with a spoon. Whip and beat together the cream and frozen mixture till free from hard lumps. Return to freezing tray.
Cookie Part:
Cream together sugar and lard, add rest of ingredients. Bake cookies at 350° F. Cool, put ice cream between cookies and freeze.

3 C. milk
1½ T gelatine
3/4 C. brown sugar
1/4 t. salt
2 C. whipped cream
3 t. vanilla

1 C. lard
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
1 C. sour cream
pinch of salt
2 t. soda
4-5 C. flour
6 T. cocoa
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. ginger
