Mom's Bread Pudding

Mix slightly and bake at 350° F for 1 hour. When cool, cut in small squares and layer in a dish with the sauce.
Sauce:
Mix and add enough cream to make a paste. Add butter and boiling water. Cook 5 minutes and cool. Delicious served warm. Add dabs of topping if you want.

1 loaf cubed bread
3 pints milk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
7 beaten eggs
1½ cups sugar
1 to 1½ cups raisins
1 teaspoon vanilla
Sauce:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons butter
2 cups boiling water
cream
