German Snitz and Knepp Dinner Recipe Amish Cooking Recipes

Cut ham into small chunks. Brown in dutch oven, along with bacon pieces. Add a small amount of water and cook until ham is very tender. Add apples the last hour of coking. When ham and apples are nearly done, bring a 6 qt. sauce pan of water to a boil. Add 2 teaspoons of salt. Mix the flour, 2 tsp. salt, eggs, and enough milk to make a stiff batter. Drop into boiling water by teaspoonfuls, and cook for 20 minutes. When dumplings are done, add them to the ham and apples and simmer. Serve piping hot.

1/2 ham
1 handful dried apples
2 slices bacon
2 tsp. salt
4 c. flour
2 eggs, beaten
milk
