German Potato Salad

Cook bacon until crisp; drain and crumble, reserving 1/3 cup bacon drippings. Place vinegar in measuring cup and add enough water to make 1/2 cup. Place 1/3 bacon drippings in a medium saucepan with vinegar, water, egg, salt, sugar and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly over low heat until mixture thickens. It should not boil. Add potatoes, onion and bacon and heat through. Serves 6.	1/2 lb. sliced bacon 1/3 cup cider vinegar 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 tsp. salt water 1 tsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. pepper 5 cups peeled, diced and cooked potatoes 1/2 cup chopped onion
