Melissa's Candied Baked Beans
| Soak beans
in water overnight. Cook until soft but not mushy, about 30 to 40
minutes. Brown bacon in skillet, remove and drain on paper towels. Break
into bite-sized pieces. Sauté the onions in bacon fat for approximately
5 minutes. Combine beans, sugar, bacon and onion in 3 quart baking dish.
Add enough water to have beans covered. Bake in a preheated 300° F. oven for
5 hours, adding water as necessary to keep beans from drying out..
lb. Great Northern dried beans
1 lb. granulated sugar
1/2 lb. bacon
1 cup chopped onion
