Mary's Onion Rings
| Cut the
onions in 1/3" slices and separate into rings.
Mix all ingredients except onions in blender or mixing bowl. Dip
the onion rings in this batter, draining off all excess. Fry in
preheated deep fat at 350° F. for 2 minutes until golden brown.
This batter can also be used to fry chicken.
1 c. flour
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 c. buttermilk or 1 c. milk plus 1 tablespoon vinegar
